Programmatically edit SWF files.

Hey Experts,

I'm looking for an ActiveX component or assistance with programmatically (via vb.net) editing/creating a flash .swf file. I have explored the SWFGen ActiveX component offered at www.swfkit.com, I'm just looking for some alternatives. Do any even exist!?

Thanks in advance.

the easiest thing may be to import the .swf into a new .fla file (which will remove all actionscript) and rewrite the code

Looking for a programmatic solution. For example, a component that would allow me to replace a text string with one in a vb.net application, or replace an image file, similar to the SWFGen component available at www.swfkit.com

That is an interesting solution Ranjeet, unfortunately though this requires a republish from flash. Include files are processed at publish-time not run-time and would hence require an accompanying .fla file.

I reckon you didn't intend to process inlude files. And that is not bad for a free solution. Also there are more links on the page. Check them out. They might need some work, but if you want a good solution, you need to work towards it.

I have searched the web for something comparable to SWFGen. I am not looking for a free solution and I am aware of using include files. Let me just reclarify exactly what I'm looking for for all future respondents. The correct solution will be a component that I can include in my VB.net application that will allow me to take SWF A and output SWF B, with the ability to edit the following:

 - Replace Text
 - Replace Variables
 - Replace Images
 - Replace Audio

SWFGen ActiveX component is capable of all these things, I am just looking for alternative if any exist. I would also be interesting in talking with a programmer that has the aptitude and potential to write such a component.

Have you taken a look at the SWF file format? http://www.openswf.org/ has good info. Look here: http://www.openswf.org/spec.html With the help of a capable programmer you should be able to do what you want. But on the second thoughts, it wouldn't be worth the effort to develop a tool for your personal usage. You might better be off buying one that suits your need at minimum cost.

I have looked closely at the SWF File format. I am basically looking for either a component that has already been developed to edit this or a programmer who would be willing to contract. Maybe I should be looking @ rentacoder.com, just thought i might find some insight here. This isn't for personally use, it's for a product that my organization is developing.

Then you should straight head for a C++/MFC/VB programmer.

I guess I'll explore those channels and see what I can scout out. Thanks for your time.
