NT4 to Server 2003 in place upgrade RAID 5 questions

Hello all,

I am planning an in place upgrade of our PDC and BDC from NT4 to Server 2003.  I have ran into some info from microsoft that says you must delete all multidisk volumes (volume sets, mirror sets, stripe sets, etc.)  Does this mean that I have to wipe out my RAID 5 array on the PDC and start fresh?  If so, how does that make it an "in-place" upgrade if I have to reformat and start all over again.
