asked on

Linux BIND server

i would like to setup a linux BIND server for testing.  We currently have two BIND 4 servers, and i would like to make this BIND 9 server production, or live, but only i will be using it or know about it.  but i want it to be fully functional.  is there anything i need to know before doing this with Bind 4.  i know they are not dynamic like 9, but im not worried about that, it will only be up for a short period.

i guess i would like a good how to, a really good how to and some advice on this.  it will be for only one domain, and i will need to make it a slave of the current ones.

thanks

If you're happy with a book on it (and it's a really good book) then I highly recommend DNS and BIND. It would qualify as a really good how-to for BIND 9.

If you're already completely familiar with BIND then it might be overkill really though, but I'm afraid I don't know of any other good guides to it.

Sorry if it's no help.

i am doing this as a test, and i dont want to make it live, but i need internet connectivity.
