Good Day,
I'm setting up a lab environment and have been upgrading the memory in a number of 2514s so that they can run c2500-IS-L version 12.3(5a).
I also have an old 4500 router with a six port ethernet module laying around. Thinking it would be cool to have this router function as a dhcp server, I beefed up the memory to 16/16 and tried to boot from the ver 12.3 on a tftp server and also copied the file directly to flash.
The transfer was OK, but the boot failed. I got errors that include:
loadprog: bad file magic number 0x107
I copied the file to flash and got this:
device does not contain a valid magic number
boot: cannot open "flash:"
boot: cannot determine first file name on device "flash:"
The failure does not surprise me, but I'd like a better undertsanding of what might be going on here.
Any brief explanation of direction to info would be appreciated.
Conversely, if this seems that it might be possible, I'll keep at it.
Thanks
Cisco Software Upgrade planner does not list any 12.3 versions available for 4500.
The latest available is 12.1.(26) The IP only feature set requires 32Mb DRAM
What is the exact file name of the image that you are trying to use?
