Outlook 4000 message limit for deletes

I'm trying to figure out a way to mass delete >4000 messages out of a mail box in outlook 2003.  Does anyone know of a way to do this.  However, I do not want to delete the entire contents of the mailbox.  I only want to delete messages older than 1 week.  I do have access to the exchange server (2000 enterprise) if there is another utility I can use.

can u create a filter and see how far that can help
go to inbox. right-click somewhere near from and go to customize current view > filters > and select
time as received and last month or whatever you need ..
now only those emails would get selected .. do a ctrl + A or in other words select all and press delete..
wont this help ?

Unfortunately no, outlook will not allow you to delete more than the 4000 message limit even through a filter.
So you did create the filter and you got the required messages to be displayed in your inbox ?
After that did you press CTRL + A and does it get selected ?
Didn't like the archive idea?
