Setup cannot copy the file: wininstP.chm
Wishing to "clean" install XP Pro (which I have done previously) I set my BIOS to recognize the cd drive first, inserted my XP Pro installation cd and began. During the copying of files to the Windows installation folder I received the error message, "Setup cannot copy the file: wininstP.chm". I have tried the following:
1 quick format (both FAT and NTFS)
2 full format (both FAT and NTFS)
3 I have used two different hard drives (one new) to determine if the drive was the problem
4 I have found nothing on the microsoft.com website
5 I have "skipped" the wininstP.chm file installation, but then receive an error message "STOP: coooo221 {bad image checksum}. The image wldap32.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum.", at which point the machine locks up.
6 I have used both, the original XP Pro cd and my archival backup. Each to no avail.
This is a very repeatable occurrance. With each attempted installation I receive the same error messages.
Thanks for you willingness to tackle this one.
