OWA email attachment issues PDF files

Thanks in advance for help on this topic. I have seen this topic on the net before however, I cannot find a solution.

I currently have two Exchange 2003 boxes running with OWA in forms based mode. One box is an SBS install the other is not. I am having an issue with the non SBS box

When I open an email with a PDF link and then click on the link to open in a new window I get the following

1 A new screen opens
2 the document begins to load
3 the adobe reader splash screen displays
4 i get a blank screen and "done" at the bottom of the browser

Some additional backround:

I have tried multiple pdf files, size is not an issue
I have tried files with and without spacing
I have tried the same email on an SBS box and it works fine
happens only with PDF files
The laptop I use to test is XP SP2 with reader 6

Adobe might be doing its annoying habit of pop-behind updates notice.  Have you tried opening a pdf by itself outside of owa?

Checked into this, If I save the pdf locally, it opens just fine.

Also, if I try once I get the splash as Reader loads, another attempt will not yield the splash screen as the app is running in memory. If i then launch Reader from the start menu the program will open. If I exit the program, a third attempt to open the PDF will give the splash again, then just the blank IE window, An ALT-Tab does not bring it up.

Have you un-installed Acrobat, and then rebooted, then installed the newest version from their website (www.adobe.com) ?  That might reset your web browser plug-in settings.

Yes I have uninstalled, reinstalled, reset all the IE stuff, still not go. NOTE: if i log onto another 2003 exchange box the same email will open. Ex, I forward the bad email message to my Exchange 2003 box, the attachment will open without a hitch. I am leaning toward the server being the cause of the issue in this case. I have tired multiple machines, the result is always the same with this server.

Ok, so you are saying that if you forward the email message to another Exchange 2003 Server and then using OWA on the 2nd server from your same laptop, the file will open?  What happens if you forward it back to the original server and try again?

Is this specifically PDF only?  In other words, what about Word/Excel/Jpeg/Tif files?

Have you tried using Firefox rather than IE to do this?  How about pop-up blocker from the lovely SP2 update?

Lastly, if you want to create a dummy account on both servers, and send me a login, I would like to try it from here (if you are open to it).

The problem only exists on PDF Files, all other normal file types are fine, I have tired word, excel, pics, etc all work without issue. If i forward it back it sill will not open.  The laptop I have used to test is XP sp2, I have tried sp1 as well with same result. I will setup a test senario when i am in my office and let you see.

Here are the questions of the day for you:

1.  Do you have the same Anti-Virus software running on both the SBS server and the Exchange 2003 Server?

2.  You didn't say whether you tried another browser other than IE

Let me know when you want to try the test scenario.

Cannot log into SSI server because I do not know the domain name to put in front of my username.  It autofills something about domain and fails.

I am having the same problem with the jagersmith server.  Give me some time to keep trying it though.
