Bluetoot Serial Port Connection

I just bought a Bluetooth GRS receiver to use with my Thinkpad with integrated bluetooth, and the computer can't find it.  I spoke with the manufacturers of the receiver and they said it should all just happen: thet the laptop & the receiver should find themselves automatically.  It ain't happening.  They checked a couple of settings, then said everything was fine and contact IBM because the problem was in the laptop.
I don't know where to start to troubleshoot.  Device manager says the device is working properly, I tried every com port I could one at a time and still no recognition.  I don't know bluetooth and that is as far as I can go.
OS is XP with the service pack.  Also, in My Network Neighborhood, there is a Bluetooth LAN listed.  It was initially disabled.  I enabled it, to see what would happen.  It enabled ok and then listed that the cable was unplugged.  Didn't make any difference with the receiver, so I disabled the LAN again.
Any advice or direction very much appreciated.

You probably need to "pair" the devices, that is a standard starting point for bluetooth. If there is a bluetooth icon in your system tray, then right-click it and you will usually see a "Find devices" or "connect" menu item. Try that, and it should search and find the receiver. Then you have to enter a PIN number (make it up yourself) for the connection. The receiver will then ask you if you want to accept the connection and ask for the PIN.

ASKER

Crescendo,
Thanks.  I have been messing with this a lot and found that I can't turn my "radio" on.  I am supposed to be able to hit Function + F5 and have a window pop up that allows me to turn my radio on and off.  Nothing pops when I hit that key combo.  I have downloaded every file and update from IBM, but still cannot get my radio window to pop up.  Have you any experience with this?
