Spell checker always checks original message.
Outlook 2003. Windows XP, Service Pack 2. Even though I have the "Ignore original message text in Reply or Forward" box checked, it doesn't seem to matter...Outlook is checking the message anyway....

Mine is not set to Prefix, but it is still checking the original message...any ideas?
Which version of Outlook are you using?
Perhaps you need to set to prefix replies, apply it and restart Outlook and then untick the prefix option?

I am using Outlook 2003. I tried it with the Prefix and it is still not working...
I am having the same problem too. Outlook 2003 sp1. I've been to the MS knowledge base and found no answer, Slapstick.com, no answer. I also have no ticks on reply or forward and spell check turned off for replys and forwards and it still checks them. It's very frustrating. I would love to find the solution without having to pay Microsoft for the answer.

In TOOLS | OPTIONS | SPELLING, please check that you have no tick in the box that says:
Ignore original message text in reply or forward
If you don't, I can only suggest that you PUT it in, click APPLY, OK, shut down and restart Outlook, and then take it out again.

Your suggestion seems to be working for me. I know that this was suggested to others with no luck. I'm wondering what the difference is. Thanks
Impossible to say. It's the way Bill builds SW..
I once had a computer that refused to work with grey or green network cables. It only worked with blue ones. All the other machines used grey ones. I swapped out the cable, the network card and the drives. No difference. Logic tells me it shouldn't and couldn't have been. But I never did get that machine to work with a grey cable.
