Escape sequences + apostrophe and quotation marks

Hi all.

I'm busy with a project that uses a C# wrapper around a flash(.swf) file, it outputs a .xml document.

Problem is, when the user types in the swf file, if he uses apostrophes or double quotes, it ends up "breaking" the xml, thus not outputting anything.

Our C# guy is busy struggling with this, and i thought i'd ask here. Since i'm not a programmer myself, let me know if there is crucial information i'm missing.

Ok, thanks guys, my C# guy has had a look at your reponses, however, what you are saying is to do all escaping first, before parsing to the C#, i.e. in my case, flash will do all the work, then parse it to C#. In this current project, that will be too hectic.

the c# guys says he's come up with an algorithm, i'm gonna give it a couple of days then, get back to you guys.
