DAO in Oracle

I am opening a DAO Recordset to retrieve some data from Oracle.  It all appears to work find except when I try to access a certain field.  This field is defined as a varchar2(2000) in oracle.  As soon as I try to get the value from:

pCommentRS.Fields(0).Value
I receive Run-time erro '3146' ODBC --call failed.  (The generic error that tells you nothing..)

So, has anyone else used DAO Recordsets with Oracle and had a problem accessing certain datatypes?  Anyone know of a way around this?

I switched to ADODB and it solved the problem.  I will split the points to be fair and to reward for taking the time to try an solve my issue.  Thanks EEs
