Where are contacts stored in Outlook?

Hiya,
I recently had to format my computer. I have applied the PST but don't seem to have all my contacts. In fact, only have very few of them.

Is there another place that Outlook retives contacts from? i.e. Microsoft address book or similar? If so, do you know where the data is stored (system is Windows XP) so that I can copy them across. Or just the file type / name so I can search the old (damaged) drive for it.

Thanks,
From Martin.

Thanks Kaur,
Go it :) It's a .dat file. Tried several options but was unable to import it. Any tips?

Martin.

If its a personal address book, the file should be a .PAB file. What kinda dat file is that?

Hi Kaur,
Sorry not sure exactly what type of dat file it is. I know that the extention is .dat and from opening it the text seems to be a mixture of charectors (i.e. code) and Names / contact details.

I searched for a .pab on my computer but didn't find one.

Please advise on how I can import my contacts or how I can find more information that would help you solve the issue.

Thanks,
Martin

Hi Martin!
When you searched for *.pab, did you have the View hidden files and folders options on? If not, you can do it from Tools->Folder Options->View->View all hidden files and folders
See if this helps you!

Hi Kaur,
There was no .pab. I eventually found them as part of the .pst.

Thanks for your help.

Martin.
