Postmaster NDR's and Internet Mail Filter Effectiveness

We are a small company using SBS Exchange 2003 and have a very simple setup but still have some issues with SPAM.  We just installed the MSExchange Internet Mail Filter, and currently set the levels at 5 / 5 to archive till we get some experience with it.   I know its working as I am seeing a few obvious SPAM messages dumped into the UCE folder.  Will that help issues where we have lots of NDR's in queues from postmaster@[ourdomain.com] to a variety of servers, such as [SomeoneAt]@freepage.de" which is clearly some result of SPAM?

I know its possible, but I am not sure it is a good idea to disable NDR's completely because its likely contrary to the RFC's.  For example, is a better idea to just delay the NDR's more than the 2 day default?

[fyi - To prevent some of these issues we would forward to our ISP's SMTP server, but we cannot use a smarthost because our connection ISP does provide an SMTP server with our t1 package.  ]

Thanks Sembee I will try that.

I was suprised too -  this is some unit or division or contract with AT&T which is a barebones T1 connection and apparently avoids providing any unnecessary services...such as an SMTP server (see email pasted below).  Yes do the reverse DNS as long as they maintain the DNS records  (found that out the hard way and lost some outgoing mail which was rejected by other servers for a couple days.)

I tried to call you earlier.  The ACC internet offer is different than
the ATT offer (does not offer everything the ATT offer does).  

Mail relay is not part of our offer, and why we can offer a lower cost
product.  Hopefully, you had a chance to review the document I sent
earlier.  Unfortunately, we don't have any other options here, unless
customer can find somebody to host their mail relay.
