Black Berry Marking Emails as Read

I setup my blackberry unit to access lotus notes via iNotes. Even if the user has not read the email on the black berry it is marked in lotus notes as being read. According to blackberry support it should not do this and its something on our notes server doing this. That the black berry software just makes a "copy" of the email it does not open it and read it.

Is there any settings in Lotus that marks a email as read when a copy or replica of it is made?

In Notes the document appears as read, that is the problem. But we are running notes 6 and that article was for an issue with notes 5.

Does lotus notes have any settings like this?
