BES 3.6sp4 Exchange 2003 win2k3 domain controller
Is this setup even possible?
BES 3.6sp4
Exchange 2003
Windows 2003 Standard
Server is Domain Controller
??
I'm having issues getting everything to cooperate. Right now i'm running into the class "Unable to lookup name in address book" (something like that) error when starting the balckberry server and it brings up a thing to create a mapi profile and it apparently can't read the mapi. Any suggestions? I followed the Exchange 2000 Setup guide as closely as i could (i had 3.5 box set, then 3.6sp4 through 1yr guarantee so i dont have hte 'newest' guides)
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick

i have gone over the guide and i've even tried putting the BES on a different machine and i still get the "The name could not be resolved. The name could not be matched to a name in the address list." error when trying to point it to my exchange server and mailbox "besadmin" ??? Any other suggestions? where should cdo.dll files reside and how do i check what mapi version i have? the fixmapisvc.exe basically says "file already there" type deal, it doesn't fix anything.

Under your windows\system32 folder, do a search for the MAPI32.DLL, right click select the properties. of the dll. it will tell you what version you are running.
The exchange system manager on your bes should be the same version of your exchange server.
Also make sure microsoft outlook is not installed on the machine

Venebili,
I will not quibble if you want to split points here....but I am getting rather annoyed with having answered a question, then without any request for further
information by the questioner, having mhills jump in with clarification of minor points, rather than actually expanding on the solution.....and expecting to
get points out of it. It has happened more than once. But perhaps I am peevish............

I might add, I suppose in his defense, that mhills is not the only one to try this ploy.
I hope you do know that it is nothing personal against you? ;)
OK.. rereading again - seems that he had added some information. But I guess you are right

Venabili,
You know that I have never questioned your integrity....of course there is nothing personal in it....and I would have accepted your original
recommendation...whined about it a bit, probably.....so how you settle this one is entirely up to your best judgement on the other "contribution."
Regards.

Check to make sure that you have Patched the CDO.DLL (and moved it to the systems32 dir)
check that MAPI is also patch.
The document will explain in detail the version levels that each (CDO and MAPI) need to be. It also gives you links to Microsoft where you can download the fixes.
This all needs to be done before BES is installed.
I hope this helps
