Email alerts from event viewer

Hi,
I have Windows 2003 Web Edition in a production environment and an web application running on it.
Every so often a service the application uses fails and an error is written to the Windows Event viewer. As a precausion I have set the service to restart on failure.
Is it possible to have errors like this sent to an email address? Is there any other way to be alerted to this without having to check the event logs?

Thanks
Shane

Rules-based event log management
GFI LANguard S.E.L.M. includes a powerful rules interface, which allows you to easily set up event rules based on the ID, condition and content of an event property. For example, be notified immediately if a particular user tries to log in more than x number of times, or attempts to access a particular file. You can also use the rules wizard to monitor custom or third party applications.

Hi,
So it isn't possible to do this with using 3rd party software?

Shane
No...Windows does not have any built in service or utility that will let you to do so.

Thanks

Hi,
Just for the sake of completeness, does this solution work?
I created a batch file called alert.bat with one line
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" http://www.mysite.com/alert.php

In the recovery section of the service I specify that the batch file should be called when the service fails.
The script on alert.php sends me an email.
