new terminal licensing server. moving from an old one to a new one
Posted on 2005-02-28
i am new to terminal server licensing and the whole deal with licenses.
i have one win2k terminal server[app mode] and one win2k terminal licensing server and i want to replace the licensing server[hostname: ipserve] because its old and dying. i just built a new win2k server[hostname: nadns] and promoted it without a problem and installed the licensing services(not activated yet cuz i dont know the type of licenses i have).
i dont know what type of licenses we have here, i took over the position for some1 who had left and no1 else here knows anything.
when i am trying to activate terminal server licensing on nadns, i get to a wizard and this dialog box where im stumped. it asks me for the "specifiy the program under which you purchase licenses". and it gives me 3 options:
-microsoft select or microsoft enterprise agreement
-microsoft open license program
i dont know which one to pick. i work for a non profit org, but i dont know if that helps you guys or not. is there anyway i can find out what type of license agreement i am using ? maybe looking on ipserve ?
after i get nadns activated, how do i go about transferring the licenses from ipserve to nadns ? dont i have to call the microsoft clearing house?
if you need anymore info please let me know :)
