We are in the process of adding T1 lines to some older DSL locations. The ISP is going to give us the internet from their CSU/DSU in the form of Ethernet. They tell me we could use a Cisco 506E PIX firewall, because it has 2 Ethernet interfaces. Assuming this is correct, which software license will I need to be able to get VPN connections from the 506E's to a Cisco 515 PIX? We are using DES 56 bit encryption (not 3DES).

DES will work, but i recommend upgrading to 3DES. Cisco offers a free upgrade to 3DES, check this link

http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/browse/psp_view.pl?p=Hardware:PIX&s=Software_Configuration

and then click on the link "Register for Purchased Feature Upgrade including 168-bit 3DES License Key"

You don't need a part number. The pix already comes with DES support. If you need 3DES/AES support, just go to the link that i gave above and enter your serial number. An activation key will then be sent to you via e-mail. You then enter that activation-key in config mode by using the command

activation-key <activation-key-four-tuple>
