Obtaining a job in the programming degree..

Hello, I am about to finish up college.  My degree is Application Engineering and Design.  I am looking to put together a portfolio of everything I have done in the recent past, and I would like to know what everyone is looking for in my recent projects that I have done.  I am looking for past experiences, and good ideas and tips.

My programming backgrounds are: C#, J#, Java, PERL, Visual Basic 6.0, Visual Basic .NET, ASP.NET, also I have done a lot with Database Servers such as Jet (Access), SQL, and mySQL.

Thanks for the help!

PS: I will accept everyone’s answer that is helpful to me in two days from today.  This way I will get a lot of ideas.

Joel has a "Coder Interview" that will help you prepare a "portfolio"
Ask the Headhunter has tons of ideas on getting a job.
Be careful of giving away your secrets in your portfolio. Show screen shots (not your code) and emphasize your preferred development process (Iterative, waterfall, RAD, Agile,...).
Be ready to demonstrate your ability to write common code (see Joel's interview). Open a connection to a database, count and or remove characters in a string. Draw an entity relationship diagram for a database.

Good luck.
