duplicate dns record problem
i have 2 domains separated by a router. On the DNS server in the first domain if i launch nslookup and enter the FQDN of the server in the second domain i recieve the expected correct response. However if i enter the netbios name of the server in the second domain only in nslookup it returns a record which states the FQDN is in my first domain.
the subnet of domain1 = 192.1.3.0
the subnet of domain2= 192.1.7.0
eg.
>NSlookup
default server: server1.domain1.net
address: 192.1.3.75
> server2
default server: server1.domain1.net
address: 192.1.3.75
Name: server2.domain1.net
address: 192.1.7.254
> server2.domain2.net
default server: server1.domain1.com
address: 192.1.3.75
Name: server2.domain2.net
address: 192.1.7.254
This problem is also preventing the successful establishment of a trust relationship between the 2 domains.
Is there any way to remove this incorrect DNS record so that the netbios server name resolves to the correct domain?
any help greatly appreciated
