tcp/ip
what changes may we see in Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and the Internet Protocol (IP) in the near and distant future? Please relate all to the internet.
Best place to keep up to date with ongoing proposals for changes is the Work Groups of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). Of particular note to your question is the Internet Area: http://www.ietf.org/html.charters/wg-dir.html#Internet%20Area
Near and distant?
Near I see VoIP being huge as a competitor for big phone companies.
Distant? I see TCP IP being obsolete. I mean, its a seriously OLD protocol. Think of it, you need all this crap on your OS because of the security holes in TCP IP. I can't believe i said security holes in tcp ip but its true...firewalls, antivirus progs, spam filters, all cost cash...maybe in the future a new protocol will be developed and all of these holes will be filled. IMagine an internet with NO spam, viruses, routers, firewalls, hubs etc etc..just connect and BINGO!
