hey everyone .. I have a cisco 2611 router and was wondering how i would enable the ethernet 0/0 port to get it's ip from the comcast dhcp server (ip= 12.242.20.34) and not ethernet 0/1 (going to have the 192.168.1.1 ip address).

thank you

i typed in "ip address dhcp" and it says "%invalid input detected at marker (dhcp marked)... now am i supposed to put in the ip address of the dhcp server.. or "dhcp"?

ps.... i have ip dhcp-server 12.242.20.34   setup in global config.

disable the ip dhcp-server
 no ip dhcp-server

What version IOS do you have? You might need to update to a newer version.
12.1(2)T
 This command was introduced.

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

Yes.

You can always just set it up as a static IP
  interface ethernet 0/0
ip address 12.242.20.34 255.255.255.0 <== if this is your IP address / mask

What is your gateway?
  ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 12.242.20.xxx

You'll also need to setup NAT:
  interface eth0/0
   ip nat outside

  interface eth 0/1
   ip nat inside

ip nat inside source list 1 interface eth0/0 overload
  access-list 1 permit 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255
