Sharing my Outlook Contacts with other Exchange Users

System is Small Business Server 2000 running Exchange and Outlook 2000 clients.

All our contacts are currently in Outlook and I want to share them with other users so that we can all use them.  Would be best if we all have the ability to add, edit and create groups and generally use them as if they were on our own PC's.

Install the global address book in the server in whch Outlook 2000 - exchange is installed.
Make sure proper user rights are given to all users for editing and creating permissoin only to the authorized users.

Thanks Kamlesh,

I fairly sure I have this installed but its called Global Address List rather than Global Address Book - See Screenshot of the Addressing Tab of the Mail icon in my Control Panel on the server at http://www.burchettfamily.com/temp/index.html
I've done some reading on the Global Address Book (or List if they are the same beast) and it seems to only provide for contacts on the Lan specifically those already in active directory.  The Global Address Book does not seem to provide any way of importing or otherwise adding contacts outside our network. I need to be able to share all the details from my Outlook Contacts Folder includeing name, addresss, phone, fax, email, categories etc. Does this make sense or am I way off beam? - I am not an expert in these things so unsure if I am even in the right area. Thanks

You can send the contacts as Vcards...but I'm sure this is probably not feasible if you have many contacts to share with more than a few individuals. For Outlook 2000 take a look at this article.

Good Luck!
Thanks for your post, I have to many records to copy one at a time using Vcards but I did take a look at the Microsoft article.  I already had net folders installed so I followed the article to share my Contacts folder and got the following error message:  "You have selected a folder on your exchange server.  Folders on an exchange server cannot be published. Please choose a folder from a Personal Folder File. Thanks again for your help.
Would it be possible to use VPN for your outside clients to access your network?
Sure, we already do but how does that help with my Outlook prolem?
Sorry DavidBurchett....
I posted this response on the wrong question, please disregard.

Check out this source, I think it should address your needs!

Unsure which TechStudent2 {http:#13479356} refers to but none of the above has solved the problem.

The comment that best addresses the original question is the one from kamleshgwalani Date: 03/05/2005 10:01PM NZDT but no one followed up on the subsequent querry regarding adding non Active Directory entries to the Global Address Book/List.

The comment dated 03/14/2005 08:21AM NZDT by TechStudent2 is quite a good workaround but as it uses public folders rather than the Global Book/List we have to configure each client to access the new Public Folder.

The solution I am after requires the shared address book to be available to clients as the default book (Global) and should not require us having to configure each client PC seperatly.

Thanks
David
