This means that the firewall will protect from IP address spoofing. If a packet comes in with a spoofed source that has the same IP subnet as the inside (local) address of the firewall, the packets will be dropped. This protects against some denial of service attacks that send a packet to a host with the host's own IP address as the source. This created caos with the server trying to respond to itself.
