No LAN connection interface appears after drive format and XP install

I had been running Windows XP Pro (Upgrade from Home).  I did a disk format and XP home install from the boot CD provided by the computer's manufacturer.

After a successful format and install of XP home, I found that there was no LAN connection interface in the "Network Connections" window, except for the LAN connection created for my firewire ports.

I cannot figure out how to add a normal LAN connection so I can connect to the internet.  I've tried using the "New Connection Wizard" and many of it's different options, but it never creates the LAN connection I need.

Any ideas?

Do you have the drivers installed for your network card?

I'll check when I get home, since obviously I'm not posting this from that computer since it has no network adaper!  LOL

although I use an onboard network input, so I thought those drivers would be included in the main install disk.

Also to activate the device drivers you may want to plug in the lan cable and then setup the host first then yours, make sure you have a computer name and  the same work group. example mshome

I ended up going into device manager and choosing "Install driver" for this LAN interface.  I updated over the internet using a USB connection to my cable modem.

Thanks everyone, points awarded to fefo.
Thanks a lot!
