Hi,

By default, Hyperion Analytic Server creates one or more new exception logs each time it shuts down abnormally. Subsequent exception logs are numbered sequentially; for example, if log00001.xcp exists, the next log is named log00002.xcp, the next is log00003.xcp, and so on.

I have no idea how many times your Hyperion Analytic Server has crashed or simply thrown exceptions in the past ... but as far as I imagine ... having too many XCPs may throw an "out of memory" message ...

You can change the settings in the essbase.cfg file to overwrite the existing exception log instead of creating a new log. If you change an essbase.cfg setting, restart Hyperion Analytic Server to apply the change.

Hyperion recommends that you might use the default setting of "FALSE .... an abnormal shutdown may create multiple exception logs and the first log created during the shutdown is often the most descriptive.

Best regards,
Raisor

There is no *.xcp file found anywhere in the hard disk. The server & client is Hyperion Performance Suite Release 8.2. Is this information useful?

Hi,

Well, I've read an article lately ... describing a possible reason for a "out of memory" message ... that's I refered to with my question ...

... but another question now ... is there any way for you to upgrading your Hyperion Suite from 8.2 to 8.3 on your Windows 2003 Server?

Best regards,
Raisor

Justification of upgrading can be made with technical reason such as there bug in release 8.2 . Are there any patch release for to fixed the error? Will release 8.3 help?

Hi,

I must admit that I think of it in way people think when they are doing IT for more than ten years ... I have no proof, no guaranties, so … no empirical experience at all to understate what I’ve suggested!

At this state I’d suggest you to leave this question open … I hope there’ll be Experts around that have not only “read” some things about your problem but have a working experience … which I unfortunately don’t have … sorry!

Best regards,
Raisor
