Same user sent items are constantly missing or being deleted.

We are running SBS 2003/Exchange 2003.  I have a user that claims that all his sent items are disapearing.  I have done three sent items restores in the past week.  I don't know what to do other than change his password to see if this stops it as someone may be messing with him.  Is there a way to track or find out who or when the messages are being deleted?  I wennt into the message tracking center and I can track them but this restore business is getting old and the user (VP) is getting angry and is just about blaming me for the problem.  Please help.

Christopherbooth,
Two things come to mind. One, AutoArchive might be enabled on the client's Outlook program. Right click the "Sent Items" folder and go to Properties. Then go to the AutoArchive tab. Make sure "Do not autoarchive..." is set to keep all emails there.

Also check the Mailbox Manager in Exchange 2003 and make sure the System Cleanup utility isn't deleting Sent Items as well.

hope this helps.

Thank you.  I forgot to add that his auto archive is not enabled.  Also I just figured out the problem.  They user have over three years of sent items that he "has to" keep and does not want to move them to an archive folder.  Since he has so many sent items and the folder is so large the has to pull that from exchange when he opens outlook.  When he first opens the sent items folder it does not display everything for him as it has to sync up.  Thank you for your help though.  Unfortionately this user is a pack rat.
