I have a machine which is XP at a state where i want to create a ghost image. We have norton ghost console 7.5. Normally when you have an image you select tools>remote client install input an admin equivalent password and the machine appears in the default group of machines.

However when i ran the ghost client install the machine has not appeared in the defautl group as it should. There are no other groups for it to go into.

Any ideas?

Make sure that the two machines are on the same subnet.  Also, make sure you entered the name of the server right when you installed the client.  If you didn't, you'll have to completely uninstall, then reinstall the client.  Also, if that doesn't work, try using the IP address of your Ghost server instead of its name.

right figured this one out, basically this machine was used before under a different name but with ghost it uses mac addresses as the unique identifier (makes sense!) i tried to add a machine that was already there!Doh!

When I selected the machine icon with the same mac address and asked for a image to be taken it worked perfectly!
