DVD-RW Disc Being Recognized as CD

I'm having a problem with DVD-RW or DVD+RWs being recognized as CDs or CDRWs in WinXP Pro, which is causing a problem with backup software that I am using (Backup Platinum).  It's happening with several different drives so I'm not going to list them unless there is a need.  When I place the DVD+or-RW disc in the drive windows says it is a CD even after formatting it (just using Neros formating tool).  It also reports that the disc has no size (total and free) and that the file format is CDFS.  Any suggestions or help on why this is happening would be greatly appreciated.  I don't believe it is a driver issue as one of the drives came stock with the system and there haven't been any upgrades or changes that would've caused this to my knowledge.

Thanks,
Ronnie

Go to the Services Console and check if IMAPI CD Burning is running. If so, turn it off (Disable).

Don't format the disc. Just use it !

Try with Nero if you can´t with Backup Platinum.

Best Regards !
I'm tired of burning DVD+RW's the way I told you, but be sure you have that service disabled.

Best Regards !

Thanks for the help but the IMAPI CD Burning service is not running.  I've tried formating and not formating the disc and same status.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ronnie
What DVD Burner are you using ?

What Nero Version ??

Best Regards!

It turns out that I the backup software that I was using required me to have InCD or similar software that allowed packet writing to DVDs to allow multi sessions on one DVD,  I've moved to a different package which doesn't require 3rd party software.  Thank you for you suggestions though.
