Hi All,

I've recently been getting the following  error for smart array controller 6400:

Drive Accelerator array battery failed.  After a bit of a web search I learned that it was due a bug in the current firmware driver and that I need to download the new firmware version 2.4.

I'm always apprehensive about making changes on the server in case anything goes wrong.  Can anybody tell me what to look out for and preperations that i can make before hand and afterwards if anything goes wrong.

Here is the link for the new firmware...

You can see here that it says that certain disk drivers will need to be upgraded before this is applied.

How can I find out what disk drive model and family that my machine has?

The array config utility will tell you what disks you have, select physical view, click on physical drive and press 'more information' button. Also there may be a survey.txt in the \compaq folder or you could use insight manager to check firmware revisions.

All you can do to prepare for before hand is back up the server.
