Configuring the default Outlook background color

I have a client with eye problems.  I need to change the default Inbox view background form white to say gray or some less bright color.  In faclut any View she clicks on needs to be less bright as this is really affecting here eye problems.  I think I have figured out how to change the background on e-mails but I really need to change the color of the Views.

You can change this by changing the color of "window" on the OS's theme.  I tried setting it to both silver and gray and that was much less bright.  This should work and will help on other programs with a white background such as Word.

In case you need specifics - Right click the desktop > Chose Properties > Appearance.  Assuming XP, click Advanced.  In the Item dropdown box, chose window and then select the color on pick box on the  right.
