Windows Service marked for deletion

I've done something to my Windows Service....corrupted it somehow.

When I try to replace the Windows Service with an updated copy......it says the Windows Service is marked for deletion.   Because of this I cannot install the upgraded service.

HELP!!!!

Have you re-booted your machine since.. I had this problem a few months ago. As the article says, it seemed to happen if I tried to uninstall a service without stopping it.

You might find that the service is still running, look in task manager and 'End Task' it.

I'm sure after re-booting it sorted itself.
