Does the MCSD .NET certifcation generate a higher wage then somebody without? I'm about to finish my last exam soon for this certification and need some realistic data salary results.

I found this:
http://www.mcpmag.com/salarysurveys/article.asp?EditorialsID=67

To be honest if I went to my boss with expectations to make $72,000 I'd be laughed out of the office. So are there any other sources I can draw from that somebody in our HR dept. might use to research a realistic wage adjustment. Currently have 8 years experience in software development. I'm not a dinosaur but I didn't just fall off the computer chip either.

thx
Tom

8 years experience should get you way more than 72K. if your boss is not willing to pay you what you are worth someone else will. MSCD might or might not help, it looks nice on the resume and HR departments can use it to rank the applicants coming in. its almost always the interview that will get you the job. besides the technical aspects of a developers work there other qualities which are also invaluable such as communication and experience.
