Is there the samba-swat combo for redhat AS 3 ?

I Have a RH 9.0 server running samba-swat just great!, however I got a new server running RH AS 3 server and it only has the samba-3.0.0......etc but no samba, Is it because AS is not intended SWAT and just manual configuration ?

I also tried getting samba-swat rpm's from the internet because on the 4 CD's that I have , I only see the samba-...... but not swat rpm., and it has bunch of dependencies like krb5-libs but when I try to upgrade the newest krb5 it says that a previos version is already installed.

I want to keep the RH AS server because it supports more CPU's than the RH 9 . That's why I'll try getting the swat working. by the way there is no YUM for RH AS either right ?

Hi,

There is samba-swat in RHEL AS3.

As root, run redhat-config-packages and "Servers -> Server Configuration Tools", you will see samba-swat in the
"details".

Is that because I'm running just a text server mode ?

Yes. You need to in Xwindow (grapic mode) to run redhat-config-packages.

It's not on the CD's, just samba rpm's.

I went online and found a couple of samba-swat rpm.s and then did the following:

samba-swat-3.0.9-1.3E.2.i386
samba-3.0.9-1.3E.2.i386
samba-common-3.0.9-1.3E.2.i386
krb5-libs-1.2.7-31.i386
krb5-workstation-1.2.7-31.i386
krb5-server-1.2.7-31.i386
krb5-devel-1.2.7-31.i386

rpm -Uvh krb5*.rpm –force
rpm -Uvh samba*.rpm –force

And now I'm able to run swat!

however under swat it says all the daemons are running but smb, how funny.

Thanks

swat is just a web interface for config SAMBA. It is not a daemon.
The weird thing is samba-swat DID included in CDs if you use redhat-config-packages to install it.

Anyway, you can use redhat-config-samba in graphic mode to configure samba if you install it.
