there are countless way to do it, just a simple example:

use MIME::Lite;
$msg = new MIME::Lite
From     => 'me',
To       => 'you@some.where',
Subject  => "don't miss it",
Type     => 'TEXT',
Data     => 'Your text here';
$msg->send;
