where can I find examples on how to create and index using rtree

Can anyone help and let me know where I can find some detail documentations or examples on how to use the spaitialindex.java library to create an R-tree based index for image data (example: imageID, RegionID, x, y, width, height, red, green, blue, edge0, edge45, edge90, edge145, intesity, cluster, centroid, videoname)?  I dowloaded the library here:  http://www.cs.ucr.edu/~marioh/spatialindex/  Your help will be very much apprecitated.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
