Medical Billing App help.

Actually my question is two fold.

1.  We are writing some software to assist doctors with EMR functions.  We want to modernize their billing system but are unsure how to do it.  The program is based on C# smart-client architecture.  Is/Are there any online billing services that will allow our software to consume say a web service to help with the billing aspects of our software.  If not, please give some advice on where purchasable controls for the medical field can be obtained.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

since you are using smart-client applications i would process all billing transactions server-side. the smart client should be just a tool to access the server which will do all the bill processing. in case the smart client errors for any particular reason the transaction would not be hanging mid stream. so on your server you would need to create a process using a billing service. there are a million and one services that will allow you to process billing over the web but i would stick with one that is reputable. check out verisign's payment services, you might find one that fits your needs.

Thank you for your reply.  Sorry it took so long to get back but my account password got messed up!  Thanks to EE for getting it fixed.

Because this is a medical program, I am looking for a billing "Clearing House" that specializes in medical claims.  Any thoughts??????
