Error when trying to get MS Updates

When I try to run the MS updates I continue to get the following error

Windows Update has encountered an error. This may be due to a discrepancy in your computer's time setting.

However, I have checked the time, rebooted ... and cant seem to find any resolution to this error. Does anyone have an idea as to why this is occurring?

Thanks,

BB

Also, on this same server I have noticed that there are some web sites like Yahoo.com and ebay.com that it will not open or allow the clients to open.

This 2003 server does have AD installed, it is used as a DC and a DNS server. What would prevent these sites from being opened?

Thanks,

BB

When I include the gateway address in the TCP/IP propertys, I do not have any problem opening any web sites. Because of this I feel like this must be a configuration/DNS issue. The gateway address is listed in the "MYDOMAIN.Local" forwarders as a Host (A). What am I missing in the configuration of the DNS server?

So the problem occurs when you remove the gateway address? Is there a reason why you don't want a gateway address? I would recommend you keep the Gateway setting. So what happens to windows update. Please provide as much detail in your posts as possible
it was my understanding that the gateway should not be in the configuration except in the forwarder. Is this not correct?

I have no problem with putting the gateway address in the TCP/IP propertys.

I have a few more test I am going to do on the Windows Update errors and after that, if it does not get resolved I will post the information related to this problem.

Sounds like you are forwarding requests to a separeate gateway device. I would need to know a bit more information as to how you are networked.
All clients and Server are behind a router. The routers gateway is 192.168.1.1. The DC/DNS servers address is 192.168.1.10. If I only place the address of DNS server into the TCP/IP propertys DNS, then that is when I have problems, but if I place DNS servers address as primary and the routers address as the alternate DNS in all clients and the server, then I dont seem to have the problems that I mentioned.
I ended up reloading the operating system to resolve the problem. Thanks for all the help
