Windows Domain Workstation Bandwidth Requirements

How much bandwidth does a windows xp workstation use to authenticate onto a domain as well as how much ongoing bandwidth usage does it use to stay in synch with the domain?
1 Solution
authentication bandwidth is very low.....a few packets.......though if you have a few thousand  users all logging into a single DC at 8:03 am every day, you are going to see a significant hit on your bandwidth.

Once a user has logged in and has been issued a Kerberos "ticket" for the resources on your domain to which that user has permissions, there is no further traffic to stay "in sync" with a DC.....in a windows domain, only DCs, WINS servers, DNS servers,
etc have "sync" traffic....workstations do not....their bandwidth usage consists of resource traffic such as email, apps and data, Internet etc.

Is this an academic question, or do you have a bandwidth  issue that needs addressing?
