Hi,

could someone please tell me what the difference between those two are (other than one is a web server control and the other is not).  When is it appropriate to use one over the other?  Finally, I have a menu Control that I downloaded from http://www.skmmenu.com/menu/.  I would like to insert that menu control into a cell/table body.  How would I go about doing that?

Many thankis...

The skmMenu are added to the ASP.NET as a user control.  So you can add the control any where you want.  Here is an example:

<table>
<tr>
<td><cc1:Menu id="Menu2" runat="server"></cc1:Menu></td>
</tr>
</table>

Please visit the following URL to learn the difference between the two:

In summary:

"Because the Table Web server control offers an object model with typed properties that is consistent with other Web server controls, it can be easier to program than the HtmlTable control. (The model is also consistent between the Table, TableRow, and TableCell controls"

Best, Nauman.

thanks nauman...

<table>
<tr>
<td><cc1:Menu id="Menu2" runat="server"></cc1:Menu></td>
</tr>
</table>

will that work with a plain html as opposed to a web server control?  I would like to use html tables to lay out my web page.  If I remember correctly, one ought to use html stuff whenever possible in order to reduce overhead for the web server.
