Checkpoint VPN Client terminates Netware connections

We are on a Netware 6.0 network. We have to use Checkpoint VPN-1 Secure Client R55 to access a client hospital's patient accounting system. When Secure Client is loaded on Windows 98 (Netware Client 3.40), it can be set up and runs fine, but the Netware connections are lost. The Netware client can no longer find the tree. The same problem occurs on a Windows 2000 machine.  Anyone have any experience in configuring Secure Client and Netware?  

We have no problems with other computers running the Checkpoint Secure Remote VPN client.

I don't have a Checkpoint Secure Remote VPN, but I have used the Cisco VPN client, and it has its own firewall.  It's possible that it perhaps defers to the XPSP2 firewall and doesn't fire up its own firewall on those PCs, but it does on 98 and 2K.  

If the Checkpoint client does have a personal firewall it puts up to prevent local network access across the VPN, it might be configurable to not block port 524 and any other ports used for connecting to NetWare.  That's where I'd look to resolve this.
