ARCServe Client Agent Problem

We have 6 servers all configured the same and with the same OS (2000 Server) and Lotus Notes installed. All have the Backup agent for Lotus Notes installed and the services are running on each server except that one server does not have the ARC Serve Discovery Service not running.

This server also, when viewing the tree under the Client Agents/WindowsNT/Windows 2000 Agents/Servername, does not have 'Lotus Notes Server' listed.

It would seem as though the reason is because the discovery service is not running, can this be confirmed and if so what is the connection between the service and dbanotes.

Thanks

Discovery Service creates registry entires for installed ARCserve products. ARCserve Servers use that to detect installed agents.

The Discovery Service does not have to be kept running. Once it has created those registry entries it should be ok to stop the service.

Also the DB Agent RPC Server Service needs to be running for the Agent to be seen.

Would  you happen to know which registry entries? If these registry entries are not there, would that account for the tree under the Client Agents/WindowsNT/Windows 2000 Agents/Servername, not having 'Lotus Notes Server' listed?

hk_L_M/software/ this part is different depending on version company name / same product name / Discovery Table

2nd ? was above
Also DB Agents are viewed under Network or Windows but not under Client Agents, but again that depends on the version. From version 1.0 to 11.1 that have been a few changes in how it works. If you don't see it under one then check the other, but the above two points must be taken care of as mentioned in my first post.
