Around the same as would take for you to sit on the net for about 10 minutes and post a question here. Then you can get it answered by masters and gurus and wizards and sages and........

jmcg, Although I should not be jutting my nose into these matters, I think the question that question that the author has asked cannot be termed as 'soliciting'. The question asks how much do Perl gurus expect when they are offered a job. For all we know, this guy may be conducting interviews for Perl  candidates for the first time, and doesnt know what to offer them. Yes, the question does look like it may turn that way, but not yet.

If you're serious about this, I suggest you take a look at http://jobs.perl.org/ . It's the main site for posting job openings, and looking through the jobs posted there should give you an indication of what you could expect.
