Download and boot the free
http://www.netbootdisk.com/

It's a DOS boot floppy thats useful for network troubleshooting
Note it may take a few minutes to acquire it's
DHCP settings just be patient.

If this works it points to a problem in your OS.

I went to Wal-Mart and bought a new cat-5 cable and it is now working properly. 4 of the working cables here would not work on this system. It makes no sense but at least its working now. Thanks!
