Swf file... Export to movie (Avi)

I have Flash MX and a swf file. I want to open the swf file in the Flash Mx and export it in avi or any other movie format.

The problem is that when i load the swf file in MX it sees only some seconds.
I think there are layers missing.

I do this :

File---> Import

to edit the file in MX.

How can i open the whole file in MX, edit* it and export it to a movie file ?

*How can i cut out a portion of the image ?
For example i want only the the 1/4 of the image (NOT resize... cut out the rest... crop..)

Thanks in advance.

You are importing an swf or an avi?
If it is either, I don't think they are avialable for editing. for swf you need the fla to edit, and for avi you need a video editing programme.

Hi BillyStix.

I import a SWF file. Not an Avi. Avi is what i want to exprot.

The proble is that when i go File---> Import and choose the Swf file. It opens but it doesnt show everything.
From the 30second clip it shows only a small part...

..Moreover in that part that is successfully imported there are layers missing !

There is a cartoon that walks .. but this cartoon is missing... There is only the background image and one more layer... :/

I think I understand what you are syaing - you are using import to flash for .fla files, not.swf (because this is not really possible). And the reason why it doesn't show everything is because it imports the library, not the whole file. That is what it is designed to do.
Try just opening the fla, rather than importing it.
If this is notit, let me know and I will try to figure it out:)

I think that the only way of doing that minus the swf converters is by cropping the window it show in in the html page.
