4200TN won't print to correct tray from certain workstations / applications

We have a networked 4200TN, with a Windows 2003 server acting as a print server. We have two trays--letterhead and plain. The problem is that from certain workstations, and for certain applications, even if you declare tray 2 (letterhead) explicitly in print setup it doesn't print to that tray. The solution we are working off of now is to physically remove tray 3 when certain users want to print on letterhead, but this is starting to cause problems with other users printing large documents in the interim which print on letterhead and then have to be reprinted (which also wastes letterhead). Specifically, the problem seems to be confined to certain word documents and documents printed from Crystal Reports (not directly from CR8.5, but from an application that allows you to run reports).

Any suggestions? Have removed and reinstalled printer driver on the machine to no avail....

Have you defined the trays at the printer be letterhead and plain? Are the trays in the printer defined to the correct size?
