Hello, I was wondering, is it possible to execute an application that you manually loaded to memory using VB6?  Or do I have to use a lower level language to achieve this?

Like have a byte array and fill it with the contents of notepad.exe

Then execute that section of memory without using a temporary file?

If I need to use ASM for this could someone point me to a good ASM tutuorial that would allow me to achieve this?

This can be done in C/C++ so possibly also VB. I do not know of any examples, though.

Here are some resources for it:
http://win32assembly.online.fr/tutorials.html (view the PE Tutorials)
http://upx.sourceforge.net/#download (I believe UPX uses a PE loader and it should have the source for it if it does)
http://experts-exchange.com/Q_21277907.html (spent a couple hours trying to reproduce it.. should provide a good reference for VB)

Also, there are articles on Microsoft about the PE format and how they're loaded.
