DoCmd.GoToRecord not working

I have an access database which I am trying to change to update a sql database.  On one of the forms there is a function

DoCmd.GoToRecord, , acNewRecord

When the linked table is pointing to an access table this works when I change the linked table to point to a sql table it fails.

thanks for your help.

Is your linked table updatable?  Have you checked the permissions on the back-end?  What platform is the back-end?  Can you edit data in that table?

>>> The back-end is sql

Of course it is.  SQL is the de facto standard for database platforms.  But WHICH SQL platform are you using?
