I'm trying to create similar effect to http://www.periscope.com/flash/main.asp - I can't get the opening of the box to look right. I can see that there is a grey background, behind the coloured boxes but whatever I do it doesn't look right. Any great suggestions? Tried to have a look at www.flashkit.com but couldn't find a similar animation.

have you got anything to go on? If you don't have space to post you can use email, but whoever requests it you must send to as well, so we can all help.

It is not because I do not want to give you my file, but I have tired and tried and is getting no where. Showing you what I have now, will not help, cause latest try is just creating the opening of the box, having is move slightly frame by frame. Was hoping there was another way.

Spoke to some prof web guys about it, and they suggest that I make a transformation in Illustrator and import into Flash. So now I'm trying to find out how that is being done.

for the flipping box I have made a small example -
http://members.lycos.co.uk/billystyx/download5.htm

hope this helps - how it works is you use modify->trasform, and when the mouse is resting over an edge you will see two small arrows pointing indifferent directions. This is the skew tool. You can create pseudo 3d effects using this in a keyframe animation style. To check your progress, work with the onion skin outlines on the bottom of the timeline (2 white pages icon), and drag the onion skinning over all frame. To change position of each frame, click on the frame on the timeline and move and skew until the effect is right.

I understand what you are doing - however I can't see how that will work with what I'm doing. Visually you don't get the same opening effect.

I've uploaded my file, not sure if it makes sense, but it would be great if you had time to have a look.

that is correct - the blue box in the middle - opens up, so there end up being the 4 extra pages, as I have there as a draft to work with.

are all 4 pages opening the same way as your example? Or are you looking for up down left and right?
Just want to make sure I am on the right track:)

I'm trying to create the same efftect. The only difference is, I don't want it to be the main navigation, but just the opening of the site.

I have continue my frame by frame approach, as it looks to be the only way out.

frame by frame is defintiely the only way for such an effect - if you have a 3d programme - (there is a freeone on the market called art of illusion which is very good - you can create a 3d movie and import it to flash as frame animation, or you can make it directly in flash frame by frame as you say.

If you are ok with this then I won't do anything - I am sure you have the capabilities for that - o/w let me know

Well I was only trying to save time. But I getting closer and closer, but I have to say that its a lot work going frame by frame, but doing that is not a problem, just time consuming.

Thanks for you help.
