The question title says it all really, I want to be able to extract pictures/images from Word document files
and save them as seperate image files (.BMP .JPG ... dont really mind what format)

I have found some information about a product called Word2Picture - I would rather not hear about that,
besides, their website has been unavailable all day.

Hints as to how to go about this would be appeciated.

Rough working examples would make me ecstatic :)

Yep,

I do know some things about the format of Word .DOC files and I am still gathering information about
the various data streams contained therein.

What word version are we talking about?

WordML(new XML format) has a very simple way to get pictures out of it, for earlier versions I'm not sure, maybe Turbo Power OfficePartner(available on SourceForge) might be of help.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I think I need to consider versions from 8 up. If any solution I come up with works with versions older than that,
then would be a bonus.

I will be looking at WordML seperately, but, I will need to cover that too.

Cheers,

David.

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

Hi,

I think that Office Partner should be of help in this.
I've never tried - though - to extract images from Word files.

Hi Andrew,

Ok, I have reviewed "Office Partner". I do not think it is the way to go for this project.

Which means, I am going to have to get into the various native Word.Doc formats and extract "stuff" myself, ah well, se la vie.

Cheers,

David.

Wahey!

I am getting close to answering my own question. <grin> Can I give myself -some- points for assisting myself? (I would assume not).

I have found this interesting, relevant and potentially very useful "stuff";
